LWM-IFDLHR is a festival dedicated to documentary cinema, seeking to highlight Liberation and Human Rights struggle of people in various parts of the world and its contemporary significance. It seeks to uphold new forms of viewing the human communication in global perspective. LWM-IFDLHR also focuses on breaking new ground and on the great diversity and vitality of 'Cinema of reality', the documentary genre. Organized by Liberation War Museum, a peoples' museum dedicated to highlight the history of Bangladesh's struggle of Independence and its presentation to new generation. LWM International Festival of Docufilms on Liberation and Human Rights will be held between 05 and 08 January, 2011.

 

FESTIVAL RULES
  1. The Selection Committee seeks film with cinematographic quality, which manifests the point view of the author both in terms of content as well as form.
  2. Only films concluded after 1st January 2008 are eligible for the competitive category.
  3. All the films selected will be screened during the festival with English subtitles if available.
  4. The deadline for entries HAS BEEN EXTENDED to 25 December 2010.
  5. Only entries that include a DVD version of the film and a duly filled application form will be accepted. Entries must be filled at www.liberationwarmuseum.org.
  6. LWM-IFDLHR competitive category will have national participation only.
  7. The Selection Committee will decide the category in which the film will be classified.
    1. National Competition – Open to short (less than 60 minutes) length documentary produced or directed by Bangladeshi film-makers.
    2. Young Filmmaker Award: Special Jury Prize for first or second film by young filmmaker (under 35 years)
  8. Other components of the Festival are:
    1. International Panorama- short/feature length films.
    2. Retrospective (Films of a particular film maker, of a region or on a particular subject. The Focus of 2011 festival will be "War and Women".
  9. Award: LWM-IFDLHR award, national category consists of a trophy, a diploma and prize money of Tk.1,00,000/- (One Lac only).
    Young filmmaker award will consist of a diploma and cash award of Tk. 25,000.00.
  10. The decision of the Jury Board will be final.
  11. How to enter a film:
    LWM-IFDLHR should receive the following until 25th December, 2010
    • A duly filled in application form
    • A DVD version of the film with subtitles or a version in English. Participants are requested to test the DVD copies before they send those to LWM- IFDLHR
    • Other relevant informations
    • A digital photo of the director
    • Immediately upon selection the followings should be submitted
    • A list of the dialogues in English (optional)
    • A press kit
    • Three photographs from the-film (minimum resolution: 300 dpi - 10×10cm) in a digital format. Until 25th December (for exhibition)
    • Print of the selected film (in the exhibition format)
    • Posters, postcards and promotional materials
  12. All costs of sending DVD versions to the competition are the responsibility of the participants who are entering in the competition.
  13. The DVD copies to be used in the selection process will not be returned and will become part of the festival’s archive, which may be consulted in viewing for educational purposes. For any kind of public projection, expressed permission from its authors will be required.
  14. The festival is responsible for selecting all the documentaries that will he screened during the programmed schedule.
  15. In case of a film being selected, LWM- IFDLHR will inform the participants prior to the inauguration of the festival. The festival will also inform the entries that were not selected for LWM- IFDLHR prior to the commencement of the festival.
  16. After the film has been selected, the festival can use:
    1. Three minutes of the film for promoting the festival;
    2. The publicity material of the film (press kit, posters, postcards, etc.) for promoting the festival.
  17. The projection copies of the film must he sent to LWM before 25th December, 2010.
  18. The producer of the film winning award at LWM-IFDLHR will undertake to mention the LWM-IFDLHR prize in all promotional materials for the film and in the film credits of all copies afterward the festival.
  19. Any entries of films made to LWM-IFDLHR pre-suppose knowledge of and an acceptance of these regulations.
  20. The Festival Committee will decide upon all matters that are not covered by these regulations in accordance with the international rules of Film Festivals.
