Right from the beginning, the appeal by the Trustees for material, financial and other kind of help found overwhelming response from the people and made possible the establishment of truly a peoples’ museum. Now LWM is run through its own earnings (entrance fee, conference hall and café theatre rental, and kiosk sale) substantiated by government and private donations from home and abroad.
Government grant : Since 1999, successive governments have been allocating token grant in national budget.
|Sponsor members : Foreign and corporate donors contributing over US$ 12000.00 (TK. 5 lacs and above).
Existing sponsor members include Ford Foundation, U. S. Ambassador’s Special Fund, High Commission of India, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and industries, Bangladeshis in Switzerland and corporate houses e. g. Square, Transcom and Impress Telefilms Ltd.

| Project Financing |
Outreach Programme : Between 1999 to April 2004, Bangladesh Freedom Foundation financed the project.
"Human Rights and Peace Education in the light of History of Liberation War" Project : Manusher Jonno is financing the project for 2004-2006 period.
National Lottery : In the Jan-Mar 2003 period, Liberation War Museum successfully conducted government approved National Lottery. Earning has been kept separately for purchase of land for the museum.
Short term and Mid term plans:
1. Land and Building :Currently located in an rented premises due to space constrains many objects cannot be exhibited and the local and international dimension of liberation war can not be fully displayed. Liberation War Museum plan to purchase a land in Dhaka and construct a proper museum. National lottery income can partially meet existing price for required 1/3 acre land. Fund has to be raised from home and abroad for the above purpose.
2. Virtual tour of LWM and liberation war : As can be found in many museums, Liberation War Museum plan for Touch-screen facilities through which individuals can have virtual tour of Liberation War Museum and have more detailed comprehensive picture of liberation war and its messages. This facility can be simultaneously used in our Mobile Museum for people who cannot visit the museum in Dhaka. The virtual tour will be put on the web to reach expatriate Bangladeshis and other people.
WALK THROUGH THE MUSEUM / GALLERY VIEW
Exhibits are organized in 6 galleries in two-storied Liberation War Museum. It traces history of Bangladesh independence starting from British colonial period, popular resistance during Pakistan rule and armed struggle leading to final victory with emergence of independent Bangladesh. |
