Lt. General Tikka Khan took his oath as the military Governor of East Pakistan. His oath-taking ceremony was directed by B A Siddiqi, Chief Justice of Dhaka High court.

Khaza Khayeruddin of Dhaka was the convener of the Urban Peace Committee of 140 members. It was very significant among anti-liberation activities. These 140 members were announced to work for Peace Committee in different towns under a central committee. This committee was given the power to co opt more members.

Pak Army, rich with planes and cannons attacked freedom fighters at 9am at Panchdona. Pak army retreated to Gopaldi Bazar after fighting for an hour.

The whole Sylhet excluding the airport and Lakkatua Tea Garden came under the hold of the frredom fighters. Pak Army had taken place at those two places. Two companies of the freedom fighters attacked the airport according to the plan to occupy it.

Pak Army air-raided Narail Mahkuma Town along with attacking from Doitola and occupied Narail.

Pak Army, led by Brigadier Abdul Khan Malek attacked the freedom fighters’ defense. The fight continued from 9am to 4pm. Finally Pak Army had to retreat to Kholahati.

At 8:30 am, Major Shawkat Habildar along with his 10 soldiers, attacked Pak outpost at Agriculture Building situated at one mile north from Kalurghat. Twenty Pakistanis along with a captain and a commissioner office died in a terrible fight between two groups. Rest of the Pakistanis had to leave Agriculture Building.

President Yahya enforced martial law no 78. Therefore the army got the power to limit the movement of suspected people and banish anyone by the excuse to prevent any activity that is harmful for country.

Mawlana Nurujjaman, president of Islamic Republican Party asked people of Dhaka to raise Pakistani flag in every house.

Golam Azam gave a speech from the Dhaka center of Radio Pakistan. In the speech, he warned the people that India was trying to fulfill their ill wills by taking advantage of the situation. He said that actually India was trying to destroy Pakistan. He also said that Pakistani Muslims would rather give up their lives than letting the integrity of Pakistan to be destroyed.
